D2L HowTo – Link to D2L Content

1. Within D2L, open a News Item, Discussion Post, Content Page - wherever you'd like to link to other D2L Content.
2. Enter any text you would like to accompany the link
3. Click on the "Quick Link" icon.
 

4. Choose the 'Type' of D2L content that you would like to link to.

5. Choose the specific content that you would like to link to.

6. Enter the text that will become the link.
7. Click "Insert".

8. This will add a link to D2L to the content.

D2L HowTo – Embed an Image from your Computer

1. Note where you have the image saved on your computer (i.e. My Documents, My Images, etc.)
2. Within D2L, open a News Item, Discussion Post, Content Page - wherever you'd like to embed the image.
3. Type any text you wish to include.
4. When you reach the part you'd like to insert the image in, click the "Image" icon.

5. Click "Browse".
6. Locate the image on your computer.

7. Click "Upload"

8. Add Alternative Text. This allows screen readers for visually impaired users to identify the image.
9. Click "Ok"

10. This will embed the image in your content.
11. To resize, click the image. Click on the small square in the bottom right and drag to the appropriate size.

Note: Try to use appropriately sized images from your computer rather than overly relying on the resize option.
- If you use too large a file, and resize it smaller, it will take a long time to load
- If you use too small a file and resize it larger, the quality will not be great.

D2L HowTo – Embed a YouTube Video

1. Go to the YouTube page of the video that you wish to embed.
2. Click "Share", click "Embed" and copy the highlighted text (right click and choose copy).

3. Within D2L, open a News Item, Discussion Post, Content Page - wherever you'd like to embed the video.
4. Click the "Embed" icon.

5. This will open a new window. Paste the text (copied from YouTube) into the HTML Window.
6. Click "Update".

 

7. This will embed the Video into the item. You can then add text.

8. Click "Save & Close" (or "Publish").

D2L HowTo – Edit a Basic Widget

1. Click on "Edit Course.

 

2. Locate "Widget" icon. You may need to click on "Name" to sort icons.

3. Click the "Edit" icon for the widget that you wish to edit.

4. Click the "Content" tab.

5. Edit the content and then click "Save & Close".
